You would think they would come out with the fastest chip...

I mean what seperates them from a Dell or HP workstation that is top of the line? OS X (yes), but to the ones on the fence that doesn't justify paying more for less.
A 2.66 Ghz Woodcrest will probably be faster than a 2.93Ghz Conroe. A 1.83Ghz Yonah is faster than a 3.2Ghz Pentium, right?;)

Dr. Josiah B. Gould, the Plato scholar who taught me Ancient Philosophy, told us that, that although homosexuality was common among Greek aristocrats in ancient Greece, to them, sodomy was repugnant.Dr Simon Hornblower, the author of several books about ancient Greece and editor of the Oxford Classical Dictionary, a friend of mine, agrees with me that there is no way your teacher could know any such thing, and that homosexuality was not common only among aristocrats. The Greeks, and Romans for that matter, made little distinction between sexes or orifices when it came to getting their rocks off.

Either way it is DEFINITELY poor customer service. If somebody takes the time to drive down to your store and you have stock that has already been received into the inventory system and could be sold and you turn that customer away because the manager is looking out for his performance rating then you just told your customer that the manager's performance goals and ratings are more important than the people who help you achieve those goals with their hard-earned money.

Amen there brother!

In working with a family owned type chain store for the last 12+ years; so happy that we take our lumps when hot products come out. Though I miss the days where it was the yearly performance that mattered the most.

It is maddening at times at how the bean counters and senior management look at things. All one can hope for is a manager like the one that I have that sees my "numbers" don't reflect the way the accounting is done.

I'm interested in who funded this research project much to do about nothing and when will this research extend to all the Telcos, corporations and more.

If the chicken littles had any idea how transparent and documented their lives already are, they would never leave the house. It amazes me how many people think "other people" are trying to find out what they do in their mundane lives. Some egos!

I hate to think that a decent way to track potential terrorist movements was ruined by all of this bs. Imagine how much good information could have been had if a terrorist was arrested and his cell phone record scanned to find out where other terrorists are meeting. But no, you people have to tell them to delete the file. Thanks!

I wonder how long this "bug" has existed? You know...the bug that's recording all sorts of other information into the database.

2 years? 4 years?

If it's been longer than a few months, no one will ever believe a)it is a bug b)a bug this severe for privacy concerns, c)that it was never mentioned before as a bug, and d)until the lawsuit has never been on the roadmap to be fixed.

The issue has been known for over a year.

The bad press Apple has been getting led to this "discovery"

Much like the bad press led Apple to "discover" that their Antenna had an issue while pointing the finger at all phones to say that all phones have an issue.

So again - whether or not the lawsuit is justified - at the very least, when matters like this are brought to attention, results can be achieved. So for those criticizing people speaking up when they see something wrong, try and remember that it's the questioning that is important to achieve clarity and transparency. You don't have to agree with lawsuits, etc. But it's always important to engage in discussion.

The key thing here from Apple's standpoint is "Trade Dress".

No one will ever confuse a Samsung F700 with an iPhone. Now way. No how.

However the Galaxy devices are so close to Apple's products in appearance and design, it's very hard to tell them apart. THAT is the problem.

It's ony a problem if the customer can't tell the Samsung is not an Apple device at point of sale.

As for the tablets, I think it'd be pretty hard to confuse a Tab with an iPad, or think that the Tab is made by Apple.

As for the phones, who knows. I have a Fascinate (Verizon Galaxy) and the stock live koi pond wallpaper kind of gives it away, but then I know that Apple doesn't allow that. The big "Samsung" printed on the front is also a major cue.

In either case, Apple could have to come up with proof that normal consumers are actually confused between the products.

Why are you always anti-apple in every
other thread?

When you bash him instead of giving arguments, you lost already. Too many immature kids around here crying "troll" instead of using their brain.

Samsung has no honor.

It seems their problem is that they had access to Apple's design and so were able to copy more closely than is usually the case with Apple competitors.

That's a silly accusation. Why would Apple give Samsung access to their design? They buy parts from them, not cases or software.

The iPhone has been out for years. Plenty of time for Samsung to adopt rounded corners without having any secret info.

Now, if the Galaxy had looked like an iPhone 4.... :)

Manufacturing observation:

Back in 1996 every major manufacturer did most of its assembly in the U.S. or Western Europe.

Take a guess where it mainly resides now?

People want a $1000 laptop/notebook. Back in 1996 they'd be lucky to get an DX4/100 Intel PC for $1000 by Digital, HP, Compaq, etc.

Check this old message group Email about the Alpha Processor (Then cutting edge)

http://www.xent.com/summer96/0060.html

If you think offloading manufacturing/assembly to third world countries for pennies on the dollar only gives us cheap and powerful computer to use then you really miss the boat on QA.

You aren't going to get systems for basement prices that include Workstation reliable parts, assembly and longevity from anyone.

Battery flaws that SONY has are affecting many in the industry.

Motherboard designs for these new generation chips will always produce flaws.

Second revision rule of thumb.

When you go and buy a car do you buy the first year of a new model? Or do you wait a year or two?

The Auto Industry has been building cars for over 100 years and they still get horrendous recalls.

Get used to the disposable society. From Blenders, to hairdryers/coffee makers, to major tool manufacturers the days of buy and use for a decade or more cost major bucks and the low end, plastic encased models are tested for failure time frames.

This business market is driving people to purchase every twelve or less months.

I'm still going to wait on revision B of the Mac Pro. I've got more than one operating system/hardware combo and I won't die without the Mac Pro.
